Lord Nataraj – Story & Significance

Lord Shiva as Nataraj, the Cosmic Dancer, represents the eternal rhythm of the universe. His dance, the Tandava, symbolizes the cycle of creation, preservation, and destruction — the very essence of cosmic balance.

In this form, Shiva is shown dancing within a circle of flames, standing on the demon Apasmara (symbolizing ignorance), holding the damaru (drum), agni (fire), and blessing with his raised hand. Every movement of Nataraj conveys the message that through the destruction of illusion, the soul attains liberation.
